Big White has been on Dan the Ski Man’s short list for a long time. I heard accolades about this awesome British Columbia resort since I did my first Canadian tour several decades ago, but I could not find a way to get a group up there for a decent price until now. Skiman is pumped! 7 nights ski in / ski out lodging right on the slopes, airfare, and a lift pass for $1398.00.  Done. It is a great value for a ski in / ski out week during the holiday season at an uncrowded resort with huge terrain and good snow. Read the details and jump on board. We have  limited space.

The resort:  Big White is a large ski resort with fast lifts and short lift lines, which is what we want for a holiday season trip. Sorry, but you could not pay Skiman to ski in Utah or Colorado over the New Year’s season! This is why we have sought out and found out-of-the-way resorts for our holiday trips over the past 20 years. Big White fills this bill. The terrain is varied and has something for every skier white lift maplevel. There are lots of easy tree glades that will hopefully be filled with powder! There are steeps for the experts and lots of groomers for the intermediates. Big White is famous for its light, dry, powder and we are certainly hoping for some of that. To think this will all be at your lodge’s doorstep: yippee!
The Plan: Big White is the second biggest resort in British Columbia, located one hour from Kelowna, B.C. You can fly into Kelowna, but the air is currently over $900, which is the mother of deal-killers. We have circumvented the obscenely high airfare dilemma by going back door. We are going to fly into Spokane, WA and charter bus up to Big White. The down side is it is a 3.5 hour bus ride. The upside is that is saves over $500 in airfare and makes the trip possible.

The Air: We have arranged a non-stop flight for our AZ skiers from Phoenix to Spokane. It leaves late morning on Dec. 28 and returns into Phoenix in the early evening of Jan. 4. We are only holding 20 seats. These need to be deposited on as soon as possible. When they are gone, we can attempt to get more seats, but the price will be higher.
For those not flying from Arizona, let us organize the air for you from your gateway city to Spokane. The price may effect your package price up or down. Let us get the air you need from your city.

Using miles or getting air on your own? No problem! You would deduct $325 off the price of the package.

Insist on flying into Kelowna? If the cost of your air is not a major issue, you do have the option of organizing your flight directly into Kelowna. It would allow for a shorter transfer to Big White Resort, as the drive from the Kelowna airport is only about one hour. However, be aware of the following:
1- The cost will be a lot more compared to flying into Spokane.
2- You will still have to pay @ $85 per person for your individual round trip transfer to the ski resort.
If these are not concerns for you, then you can fly into Kelowna.

white inn out 3 BIGGERLodging  We have space for 35 skiers at The Inn at Big White. This property is right in the heart of the village. You can walk to everything: skiing, restaurants, shops, bars. Every room has 2 separate beds , a FIREPLACE, and a mini-kitchen. There are full spa facilities on property.

Lift passes: Big White’s pass system is a bit odd. If you want a two, three, or four day pass, you can only get them as consecutive days. We know that many folks do not want to ski three days in a row, so we are including a two day consecutive pass in the package. You can add on days to your liking. If you want to ski two days, take a break, and then ski two or three more days, you purchase from us accordingly. Want a 5 out of 6 day pass? No problem. You pre-order your passes from us and save money. Note that the passes are less for those 65 and older.

3 day pass (one extra day, consecutive): Senior: +$69 / Adult $+$79
4 day (two extra days, consecutive): Senior: +$121 / Adult $+$143
5 of 6 day (does not have to be consecutive): Senior: +$180/ Adult $+$209
6 of 6 day pass Senior: +$233/ Adult $+$275

What is NOT included in the package:
-The air taxes are not included because they can fluctuate up until time of final purchase in October. They will be @ $ 45.00 in total, no biggie.
-The charter bus ride to/from Spokane/ Big White is not included. The final cost will be determined once we know the final passenger count. It will be @ $59 per person each way.
Lift passes over and above the included 2 day pass not included. And, there are no meals in this package as well.

Extras! Extras! Read all about it! The non-skiing options are numerous. This place has it all. Snowshoe guided hikes, cross country ski track for cheap, snowmobiling, dog sled rides, horse drawn sleigh rides, horse drawn sleigh ride with dinner in a cabin, a wine tasting excursion in the Okinagan Valley for a day… Wow, Big White truly has something for everyone. Mix up a few of these extras to make this much more than just a ski holiday! We will organize a quick easy way for you to add any of these into your mix.

How to get on board: white skier ghostWe have space for 35 people. Deb and Skiman are going (Duh!), so that leaves 33 spots. The first 33 deposited folks are in. After that, no guarantees we can get you on. For the Phoenix to Spokane air, we have ONLY 20 seats. We got a truly remarkable airfare on these and when they are sold, you can pretty much be sure getting seats on the same flights will be much higher. If you want a spot on our Phoenix non-stop flight, we encourage you to deposit quickly.
For our non-Arizona skier friends, let us know you want to go AS SOON AS YOU CAN. We will gladly organize air for you from any white terraingateway city, but the sooner you do it, the better chance of us finding a fare that won’t be a package-killing price.

Depositing/ Payment schedule/ Cancellation penalties:
First deposit: Due upon signup. $375 per person, NON-REFUNDABLE.

BUY TRIP INSURANCE! I have beat this drum over and over and I will continue to do so: Buy trip insurance, especially if you are leaving the country! I never leave the U.S. without it. It not only protects you if you have to cancel before the trip leaves due to an injury or illness, but it also provides great on-trip benefits: trip delays, messed up flights, lost bags, medical treatment (REMEMBER: your health insurance may not be valid in Canada! Check on that, please), medical evacuation. It also protects your deposited monies, should you have to cancel due to health or illness before the trip leaves. The insurance is not expensive considering the peace of mind it provides. We offer great policies from a reliable company. Example: If you are 55 years old, you can cover this entire trip package price for $72 a person from us. The price varies depending on your age, but it is easy for us to give you a quote. Whether from us or wherever, get a policy and sleep better.

Current PASSPORT required to enter Canada: You must have a passport that is valid and not expiring any time near the dates of this trip. If you don’t have one, you need to get one and it can easily be done in time for this trip.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Criminal records? Canada is very picky about checking every entrants past at their border entry points. Be advised: If you have any DUI convictions in your past or any other felony convictions (no matter how long ago it was) you can be denied entry into Canada and you can be forced to return to the States immediately.  IF YOU FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY, we strongly recommend you contact a Canadian consulate to clear things up and to ascertain that you will be granted entry into Canada. We have had people sent back on several occasions in the past. It is definitely a major drag when this happens. You lose your holiday and all of your money. Don’t let this happen and do as directed above before committing to this trip.
