Deb's smile says it all. What a wonderful day the Appian Way bike tour is. Riding along a 2,000 year old Roman road and aqueducts, with a visit to a Catacomb and a goat farm for some cheese and wine: this tour has all this and more and is included in our Rome package.

Rome is Skiman’s favorite old city in the world. He has lost count of how many times he has been. It is a place where there is always something new to discover. It has more history per square foot than any other European city. At the same time, it is a crazy busy city with a frantic pace that can wear out a visitor quickly.

Stairway to the OLDEST wine cellar in the world, built in 80 BC. It is now a fab restaurant that is one of our visits on our optional 4 hour walking dinner tour in Trastevere. It is a must-do!

It takes time and experience to know how to enjoy Rome at a relaxed pace. Knowing the hidden places and the tours to take to amazing locales off the tourist radar screens is the key to falling in love with this city. Skiman has discovered these secrets over the years and always loves to return to Roma to find more. But he already has enough off-the-beaten-path tricks up his sleeve to offer a personalized different  tour of this, his favorite city. I have told numerous friends (and Deb!) that they may have been to Rome before, but until you do Skiman’s tour of Rome, you  have missed a lot of the coolest stuff. Deb now loves Rome as much as Skiman does and can’t wait to get back with a group of our Morningstar friends.

The rain does not dampen Deb's spirits while visiting this ancient chariot race track that is now the most beautiful square in Rome. We will take you here on Skiman's walking tour day.

Logistics: This is so easy!  At the end of our post-ski trip to the Italian Riviera, we will simply get on a train in Sestri Levanti and take a beautiful four hour train ride along the coastline of Italy to Rome. We will arrive early evening and take taxis to our hotel. At the end of the Rome tour, taxi to the airport and fly back to the States. Easy breezy!

Hotel: Rome is a bustling city to be sure. Nice hotels in or near the heart of the historic center can be expensive and worse, they are often on busy and noisy streets. A few years ago, Deb discovered a gem of a hotel that is located in a beautiful residential neighborhood but is close to all the main attractions of Rome. It is an old villa that has been transformed into a lovely hotel. We won’t stay anywhere else when we visit Rome. It is wonderful to have a peaceful quiet place to unwind at the end of the day, and our Villa San Pio is perfect for this. The garden courtyard where breakfast is served daily is a wonderful place to just chill and have a glass of wine. You  will love this place!

THE EXTRAS that will make this tour a special one for you:

-We will organize an amazing day you won’t forget. In the morning we will take easy to ride bicycles and ride out onto the Appian Way, a 2,000 year old cobble stone road that used to be the main highway into and out of

Rome. It is a spectacular ride. Along the way we pass hundreds of tomb ruins and monuments from ancient Roman times. After riding several miles along the Appian Way, we will visit the BEST catacomb in all of Rome where you will have an amazing tour. After that we carry on to a park where we will ride our bikes along huge Roman aqueducts that are still standing. We end up at an old operating sheep farm to have some cheese they make there and, of course, some wine. It is a magnificent day that few experience, and it is included in our tour.
