All our ski tours offer the savings of group pricing while still affording you as much autonomy and individual freedom as you desire. We do NOT offer micro-managed group tours. It is YOUR ski vacation and there is great flexibility within the parameters of our tours. Of course, we always offer opportunities to participate in special events and activities, but none are mandatory. It’s your week to do with as you please.
*Single occupancy upgrade is $196. If you would like us to find you a same-sex room mate to avoid this added cost just let us
know. We cannot guarantee it, but we almost always are able to match people up.
* Price subject to adjustment up or down based on change in the Euro / Dollar exchange rate, t.b.a. at time of final payment.
*Price does NOT include: International air. In every one of our past 21 Europe tours, we included air. This year, for whatever reason, purchasing air outright on line has turned out to be much cheaper than group air held by us. So we changed it up this year and having everyone get their own air. The deals are currently amazing. Folks are flying round trip from the East Coast to Munich for under $500! My wife and I got tickets round trip from Oregon for only $549. It is crazy good deals right now. You just need to get air into Munich, Germany on the correct dates and times.
Of course, we are happy to help you find the air you need. Contact us for details.
Simple Definition of origin: the point or place where something begins or is created : the source or cause of something
Why start a sales pitch for a ski week with the above English lesson? Because when it comes to the origin of modern skiing, St. Anton, Austria is it! St. Anton is the region where modern skiing was born. From long-ago beginnings, St. Anton has morphed into a top-five-in-the-world ski resort. It is top five in size. It is top five in backcountry skiing. It is top five in nightlife. Quite simply: it ROCKS! 340 kilometers of trails, endless backcountry skiing terrain for off-trail skiing, 97 lifts, unbelievable Austrian apres-ski partying…. The list of superlatives is as endless as the terrain.
Morningstar has done two ski weeks in St. Anton and they were both stellar. When it is on (and it was on both times we went) it has arguably the best backcountry in Europe and some of the best groomed trails as well. Skiman has spent two of the very best of his 42 European ski weeks at St. Anton. The Valuga, a massive peak with an insane lift reaching its top, is the gateway to some of the best backcountry expert terrain he has skied anywhere in Europe. The hundreds of kilometers of groomed trails makes this a perfect resort for intermediate skiers as well. St. Anton should be on any skiers short list. It is truly spectacular.
As with our other resort for 2017, Kitzbuhel, the challenge with St. Anton is cost. It has become an expensive resort to stay in for a week. But on our trip four years ago to St. Anton, we discovered a small village eight minutes from St. Anton with a cozy Tyrolian hotel that offered us a great group rate. We loved the hotel and found the location to be very convenient to access the lifts. We are headed back to stay at the Hotel Basur (http://www.basur.at). As always, breakfast and dinner daily are included in our packages.
The skiing is huge and offers something for everyone. 42% of the trails are intermediate, 42% advanced, and 16% expert. The backcountry we will offer with a guide is immense and easily accessed.
EXPERTS: Of course, we will offer guided backcountry skiing. The backcountry skiing in the European Alps is unrivaled and it is the reason Skiman goes back to Europe every year. The terrain is vast and gorgeous, but to ski it safely, you need a local guide. We will organize this for you experts
who want to experience some of the finest skiing to be had anywhere. The backcountry of the Alps is stunning, but expensive if done on your own. The guides are over $400 per day. A HUGE advantage to skiing with us is the savings resultant by splitting the cost of the guides among a group. St. Anton is top five in the world for backcountry. Skiman has done two weeks there and both were incredible. It has some of the biggest and best expert terrain anywhere. If the snow is good ( it was knee deep both times before) it will blow away any expert.
