The travel

Another "trip of a lifetime" in August to South America August 2010! First,we will spend a night and 1.5 days visiting Lima, Peru. Then it is on to the jumping-off point to the Galapagos Islands, Quito, Equador, where we will spend 4 days and nights exploring the rainforest and the

Andes of Equador. Next, we fly to the Galapagos Islands for a 4 night stay in a 4 star hotel. Included are 2 full day boat excursions led by naturalists to explore the ecosystems and the animals the Galapagos are famous for. Plenty of free time to pursue your own interests as well.

Following the Galapagos, it is on for a ski week in Portillo,Chile! 5 star ski-in lodge, 4 meals a day, 7 day lift pass...it will be a stunning week high in the Andes.

After Portillo, we will spend a day and a night in Santiago, Chile at a 5 star hotel.

The Hotel

Portillo Lodge and other Equador and Peruvian hotels, all 4 or 5 star.    

Lima, Peru: We will stay in a central 4 or 5 star hotel in the middle of everything, property t.b.a.

Quito: 4 star property, t.b.a.

Galapagos; 4 star property on main island, t.b.a.

Santiago, Chile: 5 star Ritz Carlton.

Roommate note

Many single people want double occupancy but are signing up solo for the tour. We will attempt to assign you a same-sex room mate who is in the same situation, at your request.While we will do our best to match you with a room mate, it must be understood that anyone signing up as a single is responsible for the single supplement unless a room mate is found. All cancellation charges and other provisions of the booking agreement would still apply.

The skiing

Portillo is world-class and world-famous. Many Olympic ski teams train there every summer. High in the Andes, completely isolated from all else, there are never lift lines and crowds. The Portillo Lodge is 5 star and includes 4 meals a day, lift passes for 7 days, and rooms with gorgeous views of the mountains or Lake of the Incas.
